Hacking Ikea

Intervention at Ikea Malmø by Taeyoon Choi Videographer: Henrik Vering December 2011
"...However it is the uselessness and its evident impossibility that grants power as an artistic resistance."

Taeyoon Choi's fascination with Ikea had to be met by an intervention into Ikea Malmø, the second largest IKEA store in the world, and the largest in Europe. He traveled to Malmø from Copenhagen with the danish videographer Henrik Vering and spend an afternoon hacking with furniture and other household objects creating weird noice machines.

Taeyoon Choi about this intervention:
"These sets of improvisational performance, or ‘the action’ does nothing much to change the soundscape of the shop or challenge the Capitalist system or to have any means of direct action toward the Machine. However it is the uselessness and its evident impossibility that grants power as an artistic resistance."
