The Order of Things
To put things in order is to make sense. Putting things in a different order makes different senses.
The three invited artists Morgan Wong Wing-Fat, Chilai Howard, and Silas Fong from Hong Kong represent young and strong individual voices on the current Hong Kong scene of video and media-art. They have chosen widely different thematic and conceptual approaches to the project. Each has found a clear, unique and sometimes humorous path.
With this version of Netfilmmakers the curators wish to ask the question of how we organise stuff - put things into order. Creating a map or a list creates a new perspective of things or a new rationale as is apparent from the above quote by Borges. They have been seeking works that deal with the act of putting things into new orders - creating new perspectives. Making a new map of the world or mapping an unknown world.
