This week I am attending the NO+CH09 Festival in Bejing, China. NO+CH stands for NOrdic + CHinese Festival and is the 4th of its kind - though this year they have expanded from music to also include architecture, design and art. The festival runs from 24.th of October to 6.th of November simultaniously in Bejing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Amongst the danish artists presented here is Mogens Jacobsen, Jakob Remin, Carl Emil Carlsen and Nanna Lysholt Hansen, who have all worked with us on Netfilmmakers.
The theme for this years festival is ID-entity. The chief-curator is Jiang Jian. In his manifesto he adresses people with multiple indentities, who have found themselves alienated from their communities both socially and professionally, because of this. But in the creative business of today, they now have the possibility to use their whole creative spectre. And through the interaction of identities, from which people draw inspiration, they have become a phenomenon of the era of creative economy. ID-entity wants to present the creative teams from both the Nordic countries and China, who by applying the Internet and digital technology, have obtained a connection with the similar groups from around the world.

What is special about this festival is that the nordic art and design is curated by a chinese curator Shang Li and that this is exhibited together with the chinese in the beautiful Diamond Building designed by the japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The building just build in time for the opening is situated in the Northern part of the Village, which is basically an indoor and outdoor mega shopping center with creative brands.
In Village South is a another building focusing on audio-visual nights, silent disco, ID-remix conference, performances, open studio and concerts. On the screen outside the building Mogens Jacobsens Shanghai Landscapes 2 and Carl Th. Dreyer Vampyre are part of the screening program.
